Remove a complex image background
Choose the subject rather than a color when the background contains several colors, texture, or natural detail.
Open AI Image Background RemoverFree local image tool
Upload a JPEG, PNG, or static WebP, click the color you want to remove, and download a full-size transparent PNG. It all happens locally—no account needed.
The whole workflow stays on this device. Changes update the preview, but the original file is never overwritten.
Click the upload area, drop, or paste one JPEG, PNG, or static WebP. The image opens locally with no account or upload.
Click or tap the color in the image. Adjust Color range if needed; HEX, edge, spill, and diagnostic views remain under Advanced settings.
Export a transparent PNG at the decoded source dimensions. You can change the controls and download another version immediately.

A selected-color tool is most predictable when the unwanted area has a clear, repeated RGB color.
Turn a consistent white or studio-colored product backdrop transparent for catalogs, marketplaces, and layouts.
Remove a flat fill around a logo, mark, badge, or icon while preserving the original canvas size.
Key one ink or paper color from scanned shapes, simple illustrations, stickers, and pixel art.
Make one uniform panel, slide, or diagram background transparent before placing it in another design.
Start with a sampled color. Increase each setting only as far as the preview requires, and use Alpha Matte to inspect edge transparency.
These jobs sound similar but use different signals. Choose by what should disappear: one color, a semantic background, all color, or a video green screen.
| Method | Best for |
|---|---|
| Remove one selected color | Use this page for a flat or nearly flat color you can identify, such as white behind a product, a logo fill, or a screenshot backdrop. |
| AI background removal | Use AI Image Background Remover when the background is complex, multicolored, or must be separated by subject rather than by one RGB color. That tool uploads the image for server processing and requires sign-in and credits. |
| Convert to grayscale | Grayscale keeps every pixel and removes saturation. It does not create transparency and is not a substitute for color keying. |
| Video green-screen removal | Use Video Green Screen Remover for moving footage. This image tool intentionally processes one static JPEG, PNG, or WebP at a time. |
This is a deterministic single-color keyer, not an AI subject detector. These checks explain unexpected holes, rough edges, or rejected files.
The best source has a solid or nearly solid unwanted color. Gradients, texture, and strong shadows need a wider match and may require compromise.
Matching is based on RGB distance, not object meaning. If the subject contains the selected color, those pixels can also become transparent.
Only static JPEG, PNG, and WebP inputs are accepted. Animated formats are rejected instead of silently processing one frame.
Accelerated browsers accept up to 24 megapixels; the compatibility fallback accepts up to 12 megapixels. All inputs also have a 25 MiB file limit.
Decoding, color matching, preview rendering, and PNG export happen on this device. No login, account, credits, or processing API is used. Clearing the image or closing the page releases the in-memory source and result.
