Privacy Policy

How Green Screen Remover for Video handles the local media you choose and keeps the editing workflow private.

Effective August 26, 2026 Chrome extension

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Chrome extension Green Screen Remover for Video (the “Extension”). It does not replace the privacy policy for BackgroundRemover.Video, which is a separate website and service.

2. Local video processing

The Extension processes the video you choose entirely on your device. Local processing may use:

  • the selected video and audio bytes;
  • the file name and media details needed to validate and process the file, such as format, codec, dimensions, duration, frame rate, and audio availability;
  • the key color, similarity, edge softness, spill-suppression, preview, resolution, quality, format, and audio settings you choose; and
  • decoded frames, temporary graphics resources, encoded output, and progress information needed to preview or export the result.

This material stays inside the Extension’s tab, dedicated worker, browser memory, temporary object URLs, and the local output destination you choose. The Extension does not send it to BackgroundRemover.Video or any other remote service.

3. Information we do not collect

The Extension does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or remotely retain:

  • selected videos, audio, decoded frames, previews, or generated outputs;
  • file names, file-system paths, media metadata, or editing and export settings;
  • account, payment, credit, or subscription information;
  • browsing history or content from websites you visit; or
  • analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, crash reports, or persistent user or device identifiers.

The Extension has no account or sign-in system and includes no analytics, advertising, tracking pixel, remote configuration, or application-managed update check.

4. Storage and retention

The Extension does not create a persistent media or project history. Active media, settings, temporary data, object URLs, workers, and file handles are held only as needed for the current tab session. They are released when you replace or clear the video, invalidate an output, close or reload the editor tab, or when a task completes or fails.

Completed output is saved only where you choose:

  • directly to a user-selected file when supported; or
  • as a local browser download created from an in-memory result.

The Extension does not keep a remote copy of an output.

5. Network access and referrals

The editing workflow works offline after installation and makes no automatic request to BackgroundRemover.Video or another external service.

The Extension contains optional, clearly labeled links to the existing AI video-background-removal workflow on backgroundremover.video. A referral opens only after you click it. The link contains only fixed aggregate campaign fields:

  • utm_source=chrome_extension
  • utm_medium=referral
  • utm_campaign=green_screen_remover
  • utm_content=no_green_screen or utm_content=export_complete
  • ref=chrome_extension

The referral URL does not include your video, file name, file-system path, media metadata, preview, chroma-key settings, export settings, result, device details, session identifier, account identifier, or another persistent identifier. Your active video and edits are not transferred. If you use the website, you must select a file there again, and the website’s own privacy policy applies.

6. Permissions

The Extension is designed without host permissions, broad website access, content scripts, browsing-history access, or background collection. A user-selected local file is available to the Extension only through the browser’s file picker or drag-and-drop action. A destination is available only through a save action you initiate.

7. Children’s privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because all media processing is local, source media is not sent to us.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Extension’s behavior or legal requirements change. A new version will state a revised effective date. A release that changes permissions, data handling, external navigation, or remote resources must update the Extension and Chrome Web Store disclosures consistently.

9. Contact

For questions about this Extension or its privacy behavior, email support@backgroundremover.video.
